Lady kisses and specialities made with IGP hazelnuts

Lady kisses are among the undisputed specialities of Piedmontese patisserie.

Delicious little pastries made with the precious Nocciola Tonda Gentile delle Langhe hazelnut and using the finest local ingredients, skilfully combined to create a sweet treat with an unmistakable flavour.

The name reflects the particular shape of this little pastry, in which two semi-spheres of crumbly buttery biscuit are sandwiched together with a chocolate filling, like two lips kissing. baci-dama-cms.png

According to legend, lady kisses were born in the mid-19th century, following King Vittorio Emanuele's request for a new dessert, promptly met by one of the patisserie chefs of the Royal House of Savoy. The kisses were such a huge success that they soon found their way onto the tables of the Italian courts. Time consolidated the fame of this sweet speciality, with its fragrant consistency and full yet delicate aroma, which is also well-known and held in the highest esteem abroad.

The lady kisses that Sole di San Martino offers its customers are the product of a 100% artisan production process, together with the utmost attention to the quality of the ingredients.

The secret of their success lies in the remarkable Nocciola Tonda Gentile delle Langhe IGP hazelnut, which has a long-standing and glorious tradition in Italy, its fame having long-since extended beyond the Italian borders. It is particularly appreciated by the confectionery industry for its aromatic and sensorial characteristics, which make it the queen of Piedmont's refined patisserie.

The Tonda Gentile hazelnut also holds a record: it is the first Piedmontese product to have been assigned the IGP mark (Indicazione Geografica Protetta - Protected Geographic Indication), a much sought-after acknowledgement of quality.
